What Are Sources & Citations?

Citations are third-party sources that mention your brand — G2 reviews, Reddit discussions, blog articles, and news mentions. AI models like ChatGPT and Claude rely on these sources to form their responses. More high-quality citations mean a higher chance of being recommended by AI. The Sources page has two parts:
  1. Citation campaigns — Generate personalized content (emails, templates) to help you get reviews, Reddit mentions, and media coverage.
  2. Citations table — Shows where your brand is already cited. Citations here are discovered automatically when you run prompts: when an AI response mentions your brand and cites a source (G2, Reddit, etc.), we add it to the table.

Citation Limits by Plan

Each time you click Generate Content for a campaign counts as one generation. Creating a campaign does not consume your limit; only generating the AI content does.

Campaign Types

IconTypeWhat It Does
Review GenerationGenerate personalized review request emails using your brand data
💬Reddit EngagementGet Reddit response templates based on your industry and prompts
📰Media OutreachGenerate media outreach emails with your real differentiators
Campaign generation uses your brand description, industry, competitors, and top prompts to produce actionable content — not generic templates.

How to Create a Citation Campaign

  1. Go to Sources in the sidebar
  2. Click New Campaign
  3. Select:
    • Brand — The brand you want to build citations for
    • Campaign type — Review Generation, Reddit Engagement, or Media Outreach
    • Name — A descriptive campaign name
    • Target count — (optional) How many citations you want
  4. Click Create
  5. Open the campaign and click Generate Content — we’ll create personalized templates using your brand data

Managing Campaign Status

  • Draft — Campaign created; no content generated yet
  • Active — Content has been generated; you can view and copy it
  • Mark complete — Use when you’ve finished the campaign
  • Cancel — Use when the campaign is no longer needed

Viewing Citations

The citations table shows where your brand has been cited:
  • Source — The platform (G2, Reddit, etc.)
  • Type — Review, Reddit, or Media
  • Status — Pending, In Progress, or Completed
  • Authority — Score from 0–100 indicating how influential the source is for AI
Citations appear here automatically when you run prompts and an AI response cites a source that mentions your brand. You don’t need to add them manually.

Why This Matters for AI Visibility

AI assistants cite sources when answering. When more reputable sources (reviews, forums, news) mention your brand, AI is more likely to recommend you. Sources & Citations helps you systematically build that authority.
